Is it legal to print the book contents and share it with others if I own the book (As done in most of photocopy shops in India) ?

Please define the term "you own the book" if you are author of book , you can do whatever you want to do with the book, if not than you can only share the same for educational purpose only , any commercial gains from such activity leads to copyright infringement. Please make sure that these book are not limited edition or foreign author because if so than you are not allowed to make photocopy of s....

There is a difference in owning a book and having it's copy right. Certainly if there is a copyright of the writer on the contents which he wrote in a certain book it can not be copied for making any monetary gain, though if there is no profit angle in it it depends on the choice of the copywriter whether he allows it as free of cost or on a minimum cost as not to make any profit on it or Not.
